Artist Bio

My name is Sarah Wells. I am a native Arkansan, artist, muralist, graphic designer and farmer living in Austin. In my work I seek to tell stories in a way that makes the chaos of the world feel more colorful. I have been a creative since childhood and was always encouraged to explore the fullness of my imagination on paper, a canvas and even my own childhood walls. Over the years, as life has thrown me some unfavorable cards, art has become my place to escape from all the negative feelings that come with the hardships of life. In all my art I am focused on using color, pattern and composition in order to invite the viewer to feel the simple delight that accompanies a smirk. My artwork is on display around Cabot in the form of public murals, window art, custom art and murals in private residences. You can see some examples of my work withinย my portfolioย or onย social media.

Artist Statement

The collection of art located at Squizito is reminiscent of the European eclectic aesthetic. This display of whimsical images are influenced by life on my farm and observed cultural quirks. My style is influenced by graphic designer, Lucien Bernhard as well as the artists, Andy Warhol and Vincent Van Gogh. I have always been drawn to romantic imagery that exists in stories such as โ€œAlice in Wonderlandโ€ and โ€œThe Secret Garden.โ€ Hopefully, my style harkens a sense of wonder and curiosity within your spirit.
